BELLAMY WILL START ON BENCH

The Cardiff city manager Malky Mackay has said that the former Liverpool and Manchester city striker Craig Bellamy is likely to start from the bench for the match against Millwall.

It was highly expected that Craig Bellamy would be starting his first match for Cardiff city in his new spell with the club. He recently scored his first goal for the club in the 2-1 win over Leeds united at home. Malky Mackay has said that he is extremely happy with the form of the Welsh striker, but has said that the 33-year-old is suffering from a thigh problem that needs to be taken care.

Malky Mackay has said that Craig Bellamy is a crucial aspect of the Cardiff first-team so much so that he cannot afford to risk him. Hence, he will be taking each game as it comes for the Welsh striker. The 33-year-old still has a great influence on the team according to Malky Mackay. He has suffered a number of injuries over his career, which has limited his impact. However, the injuries have not taken away the talent and the quality within him according to Malky Mackay. Cardiff have made a great start to the new season and are coming on the back of two consecutive wins.

“His body needs to be managed in terms of the games we play him and the games he doesn’t play and the type of training he does. He’s not done much training and we’ve got to be very cautious. We’ve got two away games coming up and I’m going to be cautious with him in terms of how’s he played over the next week or two. He’ll be part of it [the squad] but whether he’s involved is another matter,” said Malky Mackay ahead of the match with Millwall.
